Social Studies Series
Horizon - My Book of Social Studies is a series of eight books for classes 1 to 8 that strictly conforms to the vision of National Curriculum Framework. Each chapter of the book has been carefully framed to prepare the children to live a purposeful life and contribute to the development of the society as a whole. This series will help children to: Develop awareness of the world and environment: This knowledge enables the children to understand how the different societies have evolved and know about the important past eventsand eminent personalities. Develop critical thinking abilities: Learning a variety of topics such as Natural Resources, Caste System, Political Ideologies, Social Reformers, United Nations, etc. helps the children to understand, analyze and evaluate the existing connections between these ideas and theories. Develop social understanding: Learning about the different religions, social and cultural beliefs, castes and creed, nationalities and ethnicity, values, languages, festivals, food and clothing, types of families, etc. makes children aware of the society they live in and recognize the benefits and challenges of living in a world with multiple cultures and ideologies. Become better citizens: It also teaches the children to address societal and global concerns using literature, technology and other identifiable community resources and prepares them to grow up as active, responsible and reflective members of the society.
